How We Are Serving

Wow, it’s only 7:30 PM and we are so worn out, we are ready for bed! We hit the ground running when we got here and have very little free time. Work begins at sunup and we usually finish about sunset. There is still no electricity, so we are constrained by sunlight.

Every home and every business on the island suffered damage. Most lost everything inside their homes due to water damage.

Our focus is to get the structures that are still standing watertight and livable again so the people can start rebuilding their lives. That means fixing or replacing roofs that were torn off. We helped raise some walls yesterday that were completely torn from the foundation. So far, we have worked on several homes and one small restaurant. If we can get the small businesses back up and running, families can start generating some income again.

Pictured is Phinehas and Noah with Vincent. We are finishing up Vincent’s house today and have made a friend for life! He loves playing with us in the evenings after we all eat dinner together. He loves M&M’s but I told him we are all out. We only have W&W’s left, but they are just as good. He’s a bit confused but will probably laugh at me this evening when I hand him a pack of M&M’s upside down.
