Bringing Hope Through Sailing and Surfing
El Salvador
What an incredible week! Mid February, five of our instructors traveled to El Salvador to work with young people. Among other things, we lead a sailing camp at Lake Ilompango and a surfing camp on the beach at Conchalio. The children and teens of this country deeply touched our hearts and the relationships that were formed will be treasured.
60% of the country lives in poverty and it was tough to see the living conditions. Bringing the activities that we normally do in the US to these young people was a life-changing experience (for us!) The children had such a wonderful time and were so fun to work with.
During the week we also had the opportunity to host a pizza party with games and prizes for the children at Remar Orphanage, bring groceries to needy families in Mahahual, participate in the Christian Surfers meeting, help with the meeting and serve by painting a building at La Red.
It was a busy and exhausting week, but everyone on our team had such a great time that they are already making plans to go back next year!
